A Visitor!

I wont bore you with all the silly details of what’s happened and taken place since my last post on this very site – or The Friday E-Mail for that matter. It’s hasn’t died as of yet, but I think it may be on its last legs. If YOU wish to help the cause on Friday, then send something out by all means, but don’t let it ruin any significant parts of the day, like bar-time, drinking-hour, a-spot-of-beveraging, or any of this endless fun! Hehe.

No, I shall refer only to the weekend just past. Mainly because it was just so magical for one reason and one reason only – Soph came down to see me. In desperate need of a break from macro-writing and number-crunching, I picked up a very weary Soph from the train station on Thursday evening and made an attempt to give her the weekend she so really needed. And, with her efforts as well, I think we succeeded.

Greeted with the randomness of someone throwing a cupcake from one room into the room directly above through their windows, it was always going to be good. I treated her to the most randomness I could in the first evening and there was a lot of it.

Day two, whilst I went to 9am lectures; she stayed in bed until 11, had a relaxing bath and after lunch went shopping whilst I had – wait for it – more lectures! Eeee, it’s fun! For the evening, we had the drunken formal experience, something which everyone should enjoy at some point! Trust me. It’s more a drinking session than a 3 course meal with coffee. I was prime penny target and had more than just one bottle of wine in little over an hour. They were coming from all sides, including Soph. We got her back though by filling her glass and pennying it whilst out of her reach. Cruel but it had to be done at some point. So, a little drunk, we staggered off to the bar before going to someone’s room and finally ending up at mine for sleep. Rounding off a pretty drunken evening, really.

Day three – it’s only Saturday – but I had work to do, so she toddled off all the way to Girton to see an old friend. Then in the evening, she went to see her beloved cousin, which was definitely good fun for her, which made me a happy bunny. More drink followed when she returned into my care, of course and then wine when back at my room – it was left from formal – and we just stayed up enjoying the company. Magic.

Day four, and it was sadly time for her to head back up to Chester. After the late night of the night before, it was a late morning as well, but we made the train – just. The end of a fantastic weekend in her fantastic company and what a relieving weekend it was from the normal strain and hassle that just seems to never end!
